Who We Are

A small team. A clear point of view.

We believe most small studios don't need a platform. They need one thing that works. Batik Core was built around that idea.

Our Story

Started from a frustration with setup-and-forget AI

Batik Core came out of a series of conversations with studio owners in the Klang Valley who had tried AI tools and found them underwhelming — not because the tools were bad, but because nobody sat with them long enough to make the tools fit. The question that kept coming up was the same: who actually builds this stuff around my process, not the other way around?

We started with two setups — a brief assistant for a small batik studio in Shah Alam, and an intake desk for a made-to-order embroidery shop in Puchong. Both worked because they started from the studio's existing documents and question sets, not from a blank template. That became the approach.

Today we work with a small number of studios across Selangor and KL. We don't scale by volume; we scale by finding the right fit. If a studio's problem isn't one we can solve cleanly, we say so.

Our Mission

Build things that still work after six months

Most AI setups drift. The language shifts, the templates stop fitting, staff start correcting the same things repeatedly without telling anyone. The quarterly review exists because we've seen this happen and wanted a structured way to catch it early.

Scope before setup

We don't begin building until we understand what the setup is replacing and what it's not touching.

Plain language throughout

Contracts, scope notes, and review summaries are written to be read, not filed.

Honest stops, not endless upsells

If a setup is no longer useful, the quarterly review will say so. We'd rather lose the subscription than keep one running on inertia.

The People

Who you're working with

A small team with backgrounds across AI systems, creative production, and business operations.

AM

Azri Mahmud

Founder & Systems Lead

Spent five years building workflow tools for SMEs across the Klang Valley before turning that focus to AI integration. Runs the scoping conversations and all setup builds.

NI

Nurul Izzati

Operations & Review Lead

Background in production coordination for made-to-order textiles. Handles quarterly reviews, written summaries, and the ongoing relationship with each studio.

FK

Farouk Kassim

Technical Integration

Manages the technical side of connecting setups to existing tools — spreadsheets, messaging apps, order management software. Keeps things from breaking quietly.

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to

These aren't marketing claims. They're the things we track internally and bring up in every quarterly review.

Written scope before build

Every setup starts with a one-page scope note listing exactly what the setup handles and what it doesn't. This is signed off before any build begins.

Data handled conservatively

Client enquiry data and brief content is processed only for the purposes agreed in the scope. We don't use studio data for training or external purposes.

Handover documentation

When a setup is live, you receive a short handover note explaining what it does, what to check, and what to do if something looks off.

Quarterly adjustment cycle

We return every three months. If the setup is drifting or the studio's work has shifted, we update it. This isn't an optional add-on — it's part of the service.

One contact, not a queue

Each studio works with the same person from the first call through the quarterly review. No tickets, no handoffs to support staff.

Test runs before go-live

Every setup goes through at least three test runs with the studio before it handles real enquiries or drafts. Problems found in testing don't reach your clients.

About Our Work

AI integration for Malaysian creative studios

Batik Core works with small and independent studios in Malaysia — particularly those doing made-to-order work where every job is different and admin scales poorly. The kind of businesses where one person handles client messages, a second writes the briefs, and a third checks the intake before passing to production. Places where a small AI setup in the right spot saves real time without adding new complexity.

We're based in Cyberjaya, in Selangor, and most of our clients are within driving distance — which matters because we prefer to start with a face-to-face conversation and an actual look at how the studio works. Remote setups are possible for clients we know well, but the initial conversation is better in person.

The setups we build are narrow by design. The Design Brief Assistant is a drafting tool, not a client management platform. The Order Intake Desk is a collection tool, not a CRM. Keeping the scope tight means the setup stays accurate longer and doesn't create new dependencies when it changes.

We're selective about who we take on. Not because we're exclusive — because a setup built for a textile studio looks different from one built for a furniture maker, and we want to do the build properly. If you're not sure whether your situation is a good fit, the straightforward thing is to call and ask.

Canting Note

We're registered in Malaysia and work in Ringgit. All pricing is in RM and includes SST where applicable.

A short call is the fastest way to find out. We'll ask a few questions about your studio and give you a straight answer.
